The Driveway, stage 1 (mid section to road) complete

These are the final photos of stage 1.  We need to stop at this point as Peter needs to relocate to brisbane and it looks like the weather for next week is about to turn on us.  We will start stage 2 once Peter is again available and we have good weather in sight.
Since the formwork has been stripped off and the finishing touches have been applied. The concrete riser from the road is now dried and bitumen installed for some holes in front of the riser. The property has been thoroughly cleaned up and concrete sawcut to allow for expansion in the final section near the kerb.

4th Section of driveway poured

Today was the icing on the cake for this driveway project. In the big scheme of things, the driveway is a small part, but without it, no future access to the property would be possible. In addition our previous erosion problems are now solved.  That said, there was much more to this driveway than meets the eye - as an experiment in remote planning, communication, co-ordination, logistics, council dealings, and forex transactions, this "small-ish" project was a huge success, largely due to the professionalism of Peter Arieni with his construction and management skills plus the talented work of his team (Geoff and John) on the ground there in Mt. Coolum.  Thanks guys, you really did a great job and the beers are well deserved.

4th Section of driveway being prepared

Today was the kerb section of the driveway that was prepared, including the industrial-grade galvanized pipes connecting the storm-water pit/chamber to the kerb guttering. Our hydraulic engineer specified these based on the brief to him that we will have heavy vehicles going up and down that driveway during the house build. Normally there would be PVC storm-water piping installed.
We've also been lucky with the weather, the driest spell they have had for a supposedly wet season.

3rd Section of driveway poured!

After much prep for this section, today the concrete was finally poured.  We had to negotiate a few things in this area of the driveway, namely: boundary with rock wall from Adrian (neighbour on the left) storm-water grates, underground wiring and telstra access points - these all had to be correctly positioned/installed before we could start with the concrete. Also included is a roll-up kerb on the right-side of the driveway, which will hold the earth there in place and not fall onto the driveway itself.  Another great job from Pete and his team.
