After lots of preparation, footings were poured today

The footings for the retaining walls were poured Today as well as the concrete spraying of each side of the headwalls. The amount of concrete that was used was more than double our initial estimate of 18 cm3. In the end it turned out to be 40 cm3 for the footings and 4 cm3 metres for the sprayed areas for both sides of the headwalls. That retaining wall is not going to move anytime soon.
It was also a hectic day as the concrete company messed up our credit card details and refused to order the concrete when it was in fact, their administration error. This occurred while the pump was there and everyone was waiting of course. Pete had to call me several times before I woke up and heard the phone, as it was after midnight Zurich time.  Pete's management of the whole pour was outstanding. Another successful day all round. All going to schedule.

Footing steel installed and a much needed arrival

Toe footing steel RW2 section was installed, excess dirt and rocks were taken away and the toilet arrived on site (very good news)

Final Section Concrete Pour

It's been a long time coming, but we finally made it to the last concrete pour of this driveway. The last section took 16 cubic metres of concrete and we proved today that a concrete truck with 5 cubic metres of concrete can reverse up the driveway with no trouble at all. This says a lot about the strength and planning of such a driveway given the slope. It also has greater meaning for the house build - all footings and slabs will have easy access for the trucks in the future! Pete, Will and Clynton were on board today to finish the final section, which looks great - well done guys.

Stage 2 of driveway (top section) started.

We have finally started on the Stage 2 of the driveway - after literally months of rain.  We could not have stopped the last stage at a better time - it was hammering down with rain 3 days after we completed stage 1. Peter is again available so we are going all out to finish Stage 2.  After sorting out where the garage will be placed (thanks Chris) in order for the driveway to meet up correctly from its current position, we are now ready to install the top section.
