Retaining wall complete!

It didn't take long. Ford blocklayers completed the wall and it looks great.  It's been a busy last couple of days for site manager Pete Arieni, with surveyor on site providing levels, Peter Rienecker (engineer) doing inspections on the wall, roadbase delivery, waterproofing the back of the wall and Paul Taylor (electrician) planning for wall recesses.  We're now ready for the plumber (Brendan Scilini) to come in and start his work on laying all of the pipe work as specified by the hydraulic engineer - Reinhold Koenning.  Still all going to plan and weather outlook is favorable.

Where it all started...

We saw this add in front of a realestate agent and decided to make an offer.  After some negotiation, we finally secured the property for AUD$182K.

Final Section Concrete Pour

It's been a long time coming, but we finally made it to the last concrete pour of this driveway. The last section took 16 cubic metres of concrete and we proved today that a concrete truck with 5 cubic metres of concrete can reverse up the driveway with no trouble at all. This says a lot about the strength and planning of such a driveway given the slope. It also has greater meaning for the house build - all footings and slabs will have easy access for the trucks in the future! Pete, Will and Clynton were on board today to finish the final section, which looks great - well done guys.

Wall cutting done, aggy pipe and behind-wall fill installed

Today was a big success, the rest of the wall was cut by allcoast saw cutting and the drainage behind the wall was installed. This consists of an aggy pipe with aggregate stones on top and finally soil as the final layer. Peter was able to use the stockpile of soil on site and ordered exactly the right amount of drainage gravel (10 meters) for the job. Well done Pete!
